Chats

Chats is where you talk to Sadie directly. Conversations stream token by token, ground themselves in your wiki and Soul, and carry an emotional register that shifts with what you are talking about.

You can start a chat from two places: the conversation list inside Chats, or the Sadie dock at the bottom of any shell page. The dock always has a quick prompt bar with a few suggested openers (which you can customize in Settings).

Every conversation has a context bar above the input. Click the plus and you can attach any of the following as a chip:

  • Wiki entries
  • Sources
  • Briefs
  • Discourse opportunities
  • Graph entities

Chips ground the conversation. Sadie can reference their content directly instead of guessing from your prompt alone. If you ask “what did I think about this six months ago,” attach the relevant wiki entry and the answer stops being theoretical.

Chips are removable. Hit the x on any chip to drop it. Removing a chip does not erase the messages it shaped, only the forward context.

Sadie’s tone is not flat. Her replies carry one of seven states: curious, encouraging, focused, playful, serious, reflective, or celebrating. You see this as a shift in the avatar next to her reply, and you feel it in the prose itself.

The register is inferred per response from your prompt. You can set the default register in Settings. The default does not override context, it just anchors where Sadie starts from on a new conversation.

If you have a policy with the block action and Sadie would have produced output that triggers it, the reply gets replaced with a short note: “I started to say something that hits one of your policies, let me try again.” The emotion shifts to serious, and the violation is logged so you can inspect it in Access under Policies.

Rewrite policies, by contrast, run silently. You see the rewritten text, not the original. Warn policies log and otherwise leave the reply alone.

Typing a prompt in the dock and pressing enter creates a new conversation, attaches the prompt, and redirects you to the full chat view. The dock is the fast lane when you are already deep in another surface and have a sudden question.
