Personas

A persona is Sadie’s default emotional register. It sets where she starts from when a new conversation opens or a new card renders. From there, her tone still shifts per response based on context and your Soul voice.

The knob is in Settings > Sadie under Persona. Seven options, one at a time.

  • Curious. Exploratory, questioning. The default for most deployments.
  • Encouraging. Warmer, positive reinforcement. Useful when you are using Sadie to talk through work in progress.
  • Focused. Direct and analytical. Trims hedges, leads with the claim.
  • Playful. Wordplay, lighter syntax, more willing to joke.
  • Serious. Measured and careful. Sadie defaults here after a policy block.
  • Reflective. Contemplative. Longer pauses, more subordinate clauses, more willing to sit with a question.
  • Celebrating. Peak positive. Reserved for milestones, not small talk.

Persona is a tone knob. It shapes mood and register. It does not override how you write.

Your voice portrait, compiled from your sources, calibration, and rewrite patterns, decides:

  • Argument architecture (how claims are structured)
  • Sentence rhythm
  • Register range (where you can and cannot go)
  • Characteristic moves (the things you do that are yours)
  • Vocabulary fingerprint
  • Avoidances
  • Emotional texture
  • Framing habits

These are stable across personas. A persona shift changes whether Sadie sounds warm or precise in the opening line; it does not convert your prose into someone else’s.

If you want to change how Sadie writes, not just how she sounds, edit your Soul directly in Memory > Soul. Persona is the five-second knob; Soul is where real voice work happens.

The current persona setting is a single register pick. A more granular version with explicit warmth, formality, and playfulness dials is scoped for a future release; those knobs are not wired in v1. For now, pick the register that feels closest.

  • Chat. The first response in a new conversation starts from your persona register. Subsequent responses drift based on prompt content.
  • Today cards. Copy is generated with the persona register in mind. A “celebrating” persona will read the same discourse opportunity more warmly than a “focused” one.
  • Briefs. The briefTone prompt slot receives the persona as context.
  • Dock greetings. The dock opener respects the persona.

The EmotionalAvatar component renders your persona sigil anywhere Sadie’s presence appears: dock, chat header, level-up card.
